About The blog
I’ve always had a healthy relationship with food. My mom taught me the importance of food: “Food is a cure-all; you can’t leave the table until you’ve finished your broccoli !” And although I took a strong disinterest in broccoli, her lessons inspired me to start cooking myself. As I became more invested in volleyball and weight training, I started to learn about the basic nutrients I was putting in my body. I learned how to create high-protein, muscle-building meals. What began in the kitchen quickly moved its way into the lab. This past semester I’ve been working on an Independent Study Project on Nutrition Chemistry. I created this blog as an outlet to share everything I know about nutrition.
About Alex
My name is Alex Lindemann and here are some quick facts about me:
I’m a senior at the Latin School of Chicago.
I’ve played club volleyball for 6 years and was selected for the All-Tournament Team at the 2021 Junior National Championship.
I play the Tenor Saxophone in my school’s concert and jazz band.
For the past five years, I’ve been teaching myself how to play the piano.
During the summer, I’m the manager at Chicago SUP (Standup Paddle-boarding).
I’m the Head and Founder of my school’s Weight Training Club.
I enjoy learning about food and how central of a force it is in everyone’s life. Food can be used to promote muscle growth, resolve public health challenges, and even act as a medicine. It is indisputably the most essential commodity on earth, and that is so fascinating to me.
